We are officially on school mode already. And the kids are ecstatic. It means they get to see their friends again and it means they get to enjoy an allowance. Especially Gaby who still has to learn the meaning of budgeting. Upon being given her weekly allowance she immediately treated a couple of friends to some candy after dismissal. She’s being nice but a budget is a budget.

But this last summer was eventful to say the least. The kids did all sorts of things that fed both their mind and body. Plus they had fun. Never mind that driving to and from their lessons was a task in itself. I’m just happy that they had a productive summer.

Kumon was the first thing that they asked to be signed up for. I had my reservations about signing them up but since they wanted to try it out, I figured, why not. Besides, I said that it wouldn’t catch fire and they would ask to quit after a month. Boy was I wrong. They loved it so much so that they asked to do it even during school days. I’m actually seeing good results so I indulged them.

Music and dance was next. Gaby asked if she could continue taking her voice classes. Add to that, she wanted to learn to play the guitar as well. Her firm resolve to dislodge Maria Aragon as the current Pinoy Youtube sensation was so great that we could not say no to this. And she did pretty well, actually. She managed to learn to play the guitar in as short as 3 weeks. To prove that she is really serious with her desire to learn, she had herself enrolled again.

As for Adi, she decided that she had enough of her ballet lessons. This time she wanted to try out Hiphop. No amount of convincing could sway her so we signed her up. She’s still at it and will continue to do so for the entire year. To be honest, I think this is her niche. I’ve never seen her this happy while dancing. Who knows, maybe I have a world class hiphopper in the making. That tough swagger is there for a purpose and this could be it.

Now that school has started, things can only get busier. Since the girls have decided, on their own, that they want to continue with their lessons I can only imagine how hectic it will be.
